The Central and Eastern European Committee for Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry invites you to participate at its first conference (CEEC-TAC1) which is to be held in Craiova, Romania from the 7th to the 10th of September 2011.

Craiova is the capital of Oltenia County, and close to the Danube, a strategic city and main crossroad of the Southern parts of Central and Eastern Europe. Craiova has a population of about 340,000 people, distributed over an urban area of 82 km2, while its metropolitan area is of 550 km2. It has an international airport and could be reached easily by train from Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Krakow, Chisinau, Bucharest and other cities in Romania.

The region is well known for its vineyards and for fertile fields that produce huge quantities of melon. Its economy is based on the automobile factory and chemical industry, but at the same time it can be a tourist attraction for its patrimony comprising of old Romanian-style houses of boyars, churches and museums. Craiova is not only one of the most important cities in Romania, but it can count as the major one for the Eastern Serbia and North-western Bulgaria too. This makes it the main cultural and life centre, with the University of Craiova as leading academic institution of the region.

University of Craiova will host the 4-day meeting in its main building, which is located close to the historic centre and just next to the modern one. The official language at CEEC-TAC1 is English.
